60019 Bittern is another of todays' popular mainline railtour locomotives, travelling across the rail network with special trains.

Hornby have modelled 60019 in current preserved condition, finished in the later BR lined brunswick green livery from the 1960s era. but with the addition of a second tender, providing extra water capacity for railtours today, extending the distances between stops.
In addition to running with the two tenders on mainline tours Bittern can be run with just the one tender, as it would have been seen in the 1960s and on heritage railways today.

Hornbys' model of the streamlined A4s is possibly the best model of the class in OO to date. Many separately fitted parts allow for a high level of detailing and for detail differences to be replicated. Inside a diecast chassis and powerful motor give the locomotive the ability to haul realistic trains at high speed.

NRM Heritage Collection Model

Designed for the Great Central Railway these 2-8-0 goods engines were adopted as the standard design for the War Departments' Railway Operating Department (ROD) during the first world war. Many of these locomotives had long lives, lasting into the 1960s, having passed through the hands of the LNER as class O4 and the GWR.

63601 is the sole preserved member of the type, part of the National Railway Museum collection. This model carries the BR black livery with the later lion and wheel crest.

The Gresley V2 locomotives were among the most powerful British steam locomotives, but always seemed to suffer in terms of maximum speed against the essentially similar pacific type locomotives. A small number of the locomotives were fitted with an improved exhaust system and double chimneys in the BR period, transforming high speed performance. These double chimney V2s were now able to stand in for the pacific types and keep the East Coast expresses running on time.

60862 was one of the double chimney fitted locomotives and is modelled by Bachmann in this format and painted in the later BR lined brunswick green express passenger livery.

Hornby OO BR 68006 Hunslet Austerity Class J94 0-6-0 Saddle Tank (R3023)

Built for the Ministry of Supply during WW2 these capable heavy shunting tank engines found many users after the cesetation of hostilities. The LNER purchased a number of these almost new engines, replacing older shunting engines in many yards.

This model of 68006 features a good level of detailing, the use of separate handrails and lamp brackets help bring what is a quite simple and plain locomotive to life.

Classified J94 by the LNER and BR many hundreds of the same Austerity tank engines were also sold to the NCB, mining and quarrying and steel industries. Quite a number are still at work on heritage railways today.
