LNER 4472 Flying Scotsman is probably one of the most famous locomotives in the world, having toured the USA and Australia.

Following the purchase of this famous engine for the national collection an extensive overhaul has been undertaken which has fully reconditioned the locomotive, making it ready for many more years of mainline service.

Hornby have continually upgraded this model, a flagship for the model railways range. The bodyshell incorporates all of the detail changes made to the real Flying Scotsman in recent years, including the German style smoke deflectors, fitted during the BR period and retained following the latest rebuilding due to their effectiveness. Inside a diecast chassis block and locomotive-mounted motor provides the weight and power needed to haul a realistic train.

DCC Ready. 8 pin decoder required for DCC operation.
