Dragon Armor 1/72 HMMWV M1097 1st Armoured Division Baghdad 2004 (60059)

Countering the insurgency in Iraq is no easy task and this duty is fraught with danger, so much so that Humvees used by U.S. troops for patrols are now exclusively up-armoured variants. The M1114 HMMWV is widely used in this role, as its armour panels offer greater protection against the deadly IEDs, RPGs and bullets that might suddenly strike at any time of day. An M1114 is Dragon Armours latest model to hit the shelves, this time in the markings of 1-36 INF of the 1st Armoured Division. This version is an accurate miniature replica of an actual vehicle serving in Baghdad in 2004 and is overflowing with details. The 1/72 scale vehicle is in a green and black camouflage scheme and is armed with a 0.50-cal M2 machine gun in the roof weapon station with LVOSS launchers mounted on each corner of the roof. This vehicle is ready to head out on patrol on the perilous streets of Baghdad to keep order and resist insurgents!

Dragon Armor 1/72 German Army Captured Sherman Firefly Vc (60259)

Such is the case with Dragon Armor s newest member, a Sherman Firefly Vc seen in German service in 1944. As such, it carries some special markings white crosses on the turret, plus a series of G and W markings with the original British markings all still in evidence. These new markings helped to identify the captured tank as friendly an early form of IFF (Identification Friend-Foe), if you like! Though the German unit using this captured Firefly is unknown, the markings it employed certainly contribute to a rather unique vehicle. This time, it s not the worm that has turned , but it s the Firefly that has turned!

Dragon Armor 1/72 German SdKfz186 Jagdtiger Henschel Version with Crane Germany 1945 (60267)

A new Jagdtiger model has been announced in the Dragon Armor range, it portrays a Henschel Production version, though this time with a different three-colour camouflage scheme. This version has the anti-mine coating Zimmerit applied and has a crane installed on the roof, a device used to raise the roof plate to allow maintenance of the interior. With it's 12.8cm PAK44 L/55 gun, it was a formidable opponent on the battlefield. It is uncertain what unit this vehicle belongs to even though there were only two schwere Panzerjager Abteilung Jagdtiger units ever formed. It is known that this tank destroyer saw combat in Austria in 1945. Only 77 of these behemoths were produced between July 1944 and March 1945 but fortunately this model is much more widely available!

Dragon Armor 1/72 German Captured T-34/76 With Kubelwagon on Diorama (60270)

In the initial stages of combat on the Eastern Front, huge quantities of Soviet equipment and armoured vehicles fell into the hands of German forces. However, much of it was of inferior quality or dubious usefulness and so it was simply discarded. However, as the tide began to change and Germany experienced acute shortages of its own tanks, more and more captured Soviet armour was pressed into service with individual units. Dragon Armors newcomer is a Pz.Kpfw. T-34(r). This high-quality 1/72 scale collectors item represents a T-34/76 that has received field modifications such as a Panzer III commanders cupola.

Dragon Armor 1/72 German WW2 Pz.Kpfw.IV Ausf.F2(G) PZ.Abt.204, 22 .Pz.Div Russia 1942 (60271)

Panzer IV is the common name of a medium tank that was developed in the late 1930s by Germany and used extensively in World War II. The official German designation was Panzerkampfwagen IV (abbreviated PzKpfw IV) and the tank also had the ordnance inventory designation SdKfz 161. The Panzer IV was the most common German tank of World War II and was used as the base for many other fighting vehicles, such as tank destroyers and self-propelled anti-aircraft guns. The Panzer IV was the workhorse of the German tank corps, being produced and used in all theatres of combat throughout the war. The design was upgraded repeatedly to deal with the increasing threats from enemy forces. The Panzer IV has the distinction of being the only German tank to remain in continuous production throughout all of World War II.

Dragon Armor 1/72 British Sherman MK.V Tulip launchers complete with German Fortification (60365)

The Sherman M4A4 was produced by Detroit Arsenal and all vehicles had a three-piece bolted nose. It was powered by a Chrysler WC Multibank engine, which required the lengthening of the rear hull to accommodate it. Many M4A4 Shermans were delivered to the British, where it was referred to as the Sherman Mk.V. Dragon Armor proudly offers a Sherman Mk.V of the British Army. This is no ordinary Mk.V, it is equipped with the launch rails for 60lb aircraft rockets which were taken off Typhoon fighters and modified in the field by engineers. The rockets were used in the combat crossing of the Rhine and were very successful against roadblocks and enemy sheltering in buildings, plus they also gave a huge morale boost to Allied troops seeing these monsters being fired! The Sherman is supplied with a section of German fortification to create a diorama.

The T-34 was a Soviet medium tank produced from 1941 to 1958. It was the most-produced tank of the war and the second most-produced tank of all time, after its successor, the T-54/55 series.A 1996 publication showed that the T-34 was still in service with twenty-seven countries.

Dragon Armor 1/72 US M6 Bradley Linebacker Air Defense on Diorama Base (60401)

The U.S. Army's M2/M3 Bradley family is one of the world's most famous infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) and it has successfully participated in such operations as Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Perhaps not quite so well known is the M6 Linebacker variant of the Bradley. The M6 is an air-defense vehicle found in heavy armoured divisions and it mounts four FIM-92A Stinger missiles in the launcher unit on the left of the turret instead of the two TOW missiles in a regular Bradley. The Linebacker system employs a FAAD (Forward Area Air Defense) C3I suite that allows firing while stationary or on the move. Ten spare Stinger missiles are carried inside the vehicle. The 29.9-ton M6 still retains the standard turret armament of an M242 25mm Bushmaster cannon and 7.62mm M240C coaxial machine gun but the easiest recognition feature remains the turret-mounted missile launcher unit. Also included is a diorama base featuring a typical concrete road barrier.

Dragon Armor 1/72 German Kfz.70 6x4 Krupp Protze Personnel Carrier Truck (60427)

Dragon Armor has come up with a fantastic new German soft-skin vehicle, the first ever in this exciting range! It is a 1/72 scale Krupp Protze truck, with this type of vehicle serving throughout WWII after mass production commenced in 1933. A total of about 7,000 trucks were produced up till 1942. This 6x4 vehicle was powered by an air-cooled 3.308-liter flat-four engine. The horizontal engine gave rise to the trucks distinctive sharply sloped nose and also to its nickname Boxer. The truck was used for all kinds of purposes and it was commonly employed for towing light artillery pieces such as the 3.7cm Pak 35/36 antitank cannon. Dragons new model shows the truck in a slightly different configuration, however, that of a Kfz.70 Personnel Carrier. Utilizing detailed research and moulds from a recently released 1/72 plastic scale kit of the Krupp Protze Kfz.70, this is certainly a delightful truck model. The fully built-up miniature incorporates full detail both above and below the chassis. For example, the wheels and independent coil spring suspension are masterfully represented. The Kfz.70 Personnel Carrier is finished in a typical camouflage scheme of early-war gray, and it is registered with its very own Wehrmacht WH number plate.

Now a second version of this soft-skin vehicle is available to collectors. The 4x4 heavy car was produced by Auto Union and Horch from 1938 onwards, and it served in all theaters of WWII. The original Type 1a had four-wheel steering, while the later Type 1b produced from 1940 onwards had regular front-wheel steering. This vehicle possessed four-wheel drive but production ceased in 1941 as part of German efforts to standardize production. Dragon Armor 1/72 GERMAN Sd.Kfz.181 TIGER 1 EARLY 8th Px.Rgt.2 'DAS REICH' KURSK 1943 (60479)

Probably the most famous tank of WWII is the German Tiger I. This powerful and formidable armoured vehicle struck fear into the hearts of its opponents. The fame of the Panzerkampfwagen Tiger Ausf.E grew far out of proportion to its actual numbers, as only 1,347 were built from August 1942 to August 1944. The Tiger I was the first tank to mount a lethal 8.8cm gun, with the KwK 36 L/56 weapon being fitted in the heavily armoured turret. The Tiger I achieved a kill ratio of 5.74:1, a figure that demonstrates its prowess on the WWII battlefield.

Dragon Armor 1/72 German Sd.Kfz.251/22 Ausf.D Halftrack with PAK40 Gdynia 1945 (60488)

The Halftrack Sd.Kfz.251/22 variant mounted a 7.5cm PaK40 gun in what was formerly the halftracks troop compartment. Production commenced in December 1944, the aim being to increase as rapidly as possible Germanys inventory of self-propelled antitank guns. Part of the roof was removed to accommodate the cannon, and there was also room for 22 ammo rounds in the rear. The Sd.Kfz.251/22 was operated by a crew of four men. This is Dragon Armors first depiction of this impressive-looking weapon, and it is expected to be an extremely hot item in the 2011 collection. The fully built-up model is portrayed in the colours and markings of 79.Pz.Artillery.Regt, a unit of the 7th Panzer Division. After magnificent successes under General Erwin Rommel in France, this famous Ghost Division spent most of the war fighting on the Eastern Front. The actual vehicle the model is based on fought in Gdynia, Eastern Pomerania, in present-day Poland.

Dragon Armor 1/72 German Sd.Kfz.222 DAK Armoured Car Model (60498)

Possessing a superb level of detail, Dragon Armor s 1/72 scale model of the Sd.Kfz.222 is impressive in appearance. Different to previous releases, this model is finished in the sand-colored camouflage of the Deutsches Afrikakorps (DAK) that fought in North Africa from February 1941 through to May 1943. The vehicle also bears the palm tree symbol common to DAK vehicles. The little model has been especially weighted with internal ballast to give it a more realistic and satisfying feel . Dragon Armor s fully assembled Sd.Kfz.222 is full of detail such as a photo-etched mesh screen covering the open-topped turret and a hollow gun muzzle. This little DAK model is ready to rove across sand and desert!

Dragon Armor 1/72 US LVT (A)1 Amtrac C Company 708th Amphib Batt Saipan 15th June 1944 (60499)

WWII saw a number of innovative new solutions to meet the demands of modern combat. One such class of military vehicle was the amphibious tractor, often referred to by US servicemen as amtracs. The first such Landing Vehicles Tracked (LVT) were produced by the Food Machinery Corporation (FMC) for the US military. The original military LVT-1 appeared in 1941, but one weakness was its lack of armoured protection, especially in amphibious assaults. The LVT(A)-1 helped rectify this shortcoming, with the A in the nomenclature representing armoured . Despite what its name suggests, the LVT(A)-1 was actually based on the LVT-2 and it was employed as a fire support vehicle. It featured an M3 Stuart turret containing a 37mm M6 gun. A total of 510 LVT(A)-1 vehicles were eventually produced. This important amtrac was used at Saipan during the bloody Pacific campaign.

Dragon Armor 1/72 German Kfz.70 6x4 Krupper Protze Personnel Carrier Truck (60501)

Dragon Armor are following up its earlier announcement of a 1/72 scale Kfz.70 6x4 truck with a second version. This type of vehicle served throughout WWII after mass production commenced in 1933. A total of about 7,000 trucks were produced up till 1942. This 6x4 vehicle was powered by an air-cooled 3.308-liter flat-four engine. The horizontal engine gave rise to the truck s distinctive sharply sloped nose, and also to its nickname Boxer . The truck was used for all kinds of purposes, and it was commonly employed for towing light artillery pieces such as the 3.7cm Pak 35/36 antitank cannon. However, Dragon s new item shows the truck in its Kfz.70 Personnel Carrier configuration.

Dragon Armor 1/72 German Heavy Uniform Personnel Vehicle Type 40 (60502)

In recent weeks Dragon Armor launched a fully built-up 1/72 scale model of the Kfz.70 Personnel Carrier (Item No.60427). Dragon Armor is now following up this popular release with another important German soft-skin vehicle from WWII. The new item is a Heavy Uniform Personnel Vehicle Type 40. This 4x4 heavy car served in all theaters of WWII. The original Type 1a had four-wheel steering, while the later Type 1b produced from 1940 onwards had regular front-wheel steering. This vehicle possessed four-wheel drive, but production ceased in 1941 as part of German efforts to standardize production. The personnel carrier was powered by a V8 Horch engine of 3.823-litre capacity. Dragon Armors 1/72 scale miniature version naturally makes use of 100% new toolings. The open-topped body containing three bench seats (able to accommodate five passengers and the driver) is full of detail. Even the tread pattern on the floor plate is replicated! There is also an MG34 machine gun provided on a pintle mount for antiaircraft duties. The model beautifully captures the look and stance of the 4x4 heavy car. The vehicle is finished in the standard Panzer gray colour of German vehicles from the early-war period, while small details like the WH license plate are also present.

By the 26th April only 1 Jagdtiger was still fully operational, with 14 waiting repair. In May,.Pz.J Abt.653 retreated into Austria to get to Nibelungenwerke, during which 10 Jagdtigers were blown up due to mechanical failures. After arriving, eight Jagdtigers were blown up on the assembly track, as they did not have any sighting devices for the main gun! The unit continued to give resistance until the 7th of May 1945, when Abt.653 finally surrendered.

Dragon Armor 1/72 HMMWV Gun Truck 1st Infantry Div./ Engineer Brigade Iraq 2003 (60074)

In the protracted fighting in Vietnam, with constant threats from guerilla attacks springing from any direction, GIs developed their heavily armed gun trucks. These gun trucks protected vulnerable convoys, and offered increased protection and firepower for their occupants. This tradition lives on in Iraq. With threats from small-arms fire, RPGs and IEDs, American troops resorted to the expedient of adding armor to many of their vehicles. Dragons newest M998 Gun Truck is precisely one such vehicle. The basic HMMWV has had steel plates added around the rear cargo compartment, while an M60 machine gun with armored shield has been mounted in the cargo bed. This green-colored vehicle represents a vehicle from an engineer brigade of the 1st Infantry Division in 2003. The 1/72 scale model Humvee is simply awesome it has full interior details, scale thickness add-on armor plates, detailed front brush guard, accurate gun shield and pedestal-mounted machine gun, and beautiful pad painting. The gun truck tradition lives on!

Dragon Armor 1/72 Jagdpanther with Zimmerit sH.Pz.Abt.559 Belgium 1944 (62012)

Armed with a deadly 88mm gun, the German Jagdpanther was a stealthy tank hunter. There are few tanks that match the streamlined and menacing look of this tank and there are only a few models that capture just the right look of the Jagdpanther too. Dragon's Item Number 62012 is one of them, however. This superlative model represents an early production version from Pz.Abt 559 in Belgium in 1944 and features a three-tone camouflage pattern. Another highlight is the zimmerit coating with its distinctive waffle pattern, faithfully rendered in this fully finished 1:72 scale armoured vehicle.

In the end it was decided to fit the newly developed Krupp 8.8cm PaK 43/2 gun onto this hull. This precise long-range weapon was augmented by heavy armour protection (200mm thick on the front plates). The Ferdinand made its combat debut at Kursk, where the ninety or so vehicles managed to destroy 320 Russian tanks. After the titanic Battle of Kursk, surviving examples were modified, and many ended up in Italy to fight again as the Elefant!

Armour protection was modest on this vehicle. A total of 2,123 tanks were produced from 1938-43, although 930 of these were of the improved Type 97 Kai version featuring a higher-velocity 47mm gun.
