| > Military Models > Dragon Armour | | Dragon are steadily expanding this range of superb models, crafted in plastic for maximum detail definition with some metal parts and finished in authentic camouflage schemes. Tracks are one piece rubber but give a good effect. Nicely boxed - good plastic display box inside a cardboard outer. Model length is about 4 1/2" (115mm) - based on Tiger 1. Most have rotable turrets and a gun that elevates. Fine detail incudes ropes, shackles and tools carried on the chassis, plus smoke dischargers, machine guns and external petrol tanks appropriate for each model. Best of all these models are pre-painted with sharp, accurate and authentic camouflage and realistic weathering. | Dragon Armor 1/72 Russian T-34/76 Mod.1943 Cast Turret Unidentified Unit Leningrad Front 1943 (60214) The 1/72 model represents a T-34 fighting on the horrific Leningrad Front in 1943. The tank is fitted with a cast turret, but it doesn’t possess the standard coat of green-coloured paint found on most Soviet armoured vehicles of the time. Instead it has a sand-coloured camouflage overspray pattern that makes the model stand out. The collector’s piece has been carefully and professionally assembled and painted to make it as realistic as possible. An appropriate amount of weathering has been applied using a dry-brush painting technique. It was tanks like this that put up such a spirited defense in the face of appalling conditions in Leningrad. Especially in the initial stages of combat on the Eastern Front, huge quantities of Soviet equipment and armored vehicles fell into the hands of German forces. However, much of it was of inferior quality or dubious usefulness, and so it was simply discarded. However, as the tide began to change and Germany experienced acute shortages of its own tanks, more and more captured Soviet armor was pressed into service with individual units. Dragon Armor’s newcomer to the range is one such vehicle, a Pz.Kpfw. T-34(r). This high-quality 1/72 scale collectors’ item represents a T-34/76 that has received field modifications such as a Panzer III commander’s cupola. This tank belongs to Pz.Rgt.11 of the 6th Panzer Division, fighting against its former owners in 1943. The finely detailed model has been expertly painted with light airbrushed camouflage stripes. This model has captured the look of a captured T-34 perfectly! What more can we say than it’s simply . . . captivating! | |
