Gemini Jets 1/72 Royal Navy Phantom F-4K FG.1 XT868 The Metal Chicken (GARNS4006)

RNAS 767 squadron underwent carrier trials on the aircraft carrier HMS Eagle. Each Phantom was painted with an eagle emblem on the tail and soon became known by the nickname " The Metal Chicken " and XT868 is an example. Unfortunately for the Navy, plans to operate 140 Phantoms on HMS Ark Royal , HMS Eagle and a new super-carrier were dealt a massive blow when the government cancelled the new carrier and also plans for refurbishing the existing ones.
