Bachmann Branchline 38-005D OO Gauge BR HEA Coal Hopper Wagon BR Freight Brown Livery
A new number for the HEA domestic coal hopper wagon. This model is finished in the most common plain brown livery, completed with light weathering of the chassis and hopper bottom panels, highlighting the running gear and brake system details.
These air-braked hoppers were built to replace the 21-ton hoppers built in the 1950s on the distribution of domestic and industrial coal. These smaller users were served using the air brake network, later known as speedlink. As coal traffic declined after the miners strike of the 1980s many of these hoppers were put to use as barrier wagons.
