This train set is an excellent starting point to recreate the short local goods trains and trip workings which were a once familiar sight over the entire railway network. Wagons would be moved between numerous goods yards, where they would be sorted, shunted or unloaded to provide goods to the local community. Shunters trucks and brake vans, such as the ones featured in this set, would have played a key part in the goods yard scene.

This set features Great Western pannier tank locomotive 8700 along with shunters truck and guards brake van lettered for working from Westbury, Wiltshire.
A circle of track is supplied along with a main-powered DC power controller.

Bachmanns' track is fully compatible with the Peco Setrack range, allowing the train set to form the core of an expanding railway empire.

Westbury once provided locomotives for the goods and passenger trains along the GWRs' Berks & Hants mainline several important secondary 'cross country' routes. The Cardiff - Portsmouth services from the connection with the Southern at Salisbury via the Bathampton line to Bath, trains to Weymouth for the GWR channel islands ferries and the Devizes route. There was a great deal of shunting and local goods train working serving the towns and businesses of south west Wilts and Somerset including the Mendip quarries which continue to keep the Westbury depot busy today.
