Both Hornby and Bachmann sets use standard OO/HO track which is compatible - either may be expanded with either Hornby or Peco track. The loco's and rolling stock are also compatible as the couplings are very alike and will connect without problem. Both use a mains powered controller providing a 12v variable speed supply for one locomotive. Unless stated otherwise they are ready to run once assembled.

Hornby OO Caledonian Local Passenger Train Set (R1016)

An ideal starter train set featuing a characterful 0-4-0 tank engine and three Victorian 4-wheel passenger coaches in the blue livery of the Caledonian Railway.

The set is completed with an oval of track, mains powered speed controller and a Hornby TrackMat. Measures approx. 1090mm by 940mm (43" x 37").

Capture the golden age of rail travel by steam with this little local passenger train from Scotland. Combining a 0-4-0 tank locomotive and four-wheeled coaches this is just the kind of train which might have run between villages and towns in the Victorian and Edwardian eras. A great basis for a lively rural railway scene.

The track supplied can easily be expanded using Hornby track packs and track sections from Hornby and Peco.
