Navis Neptun 1/1250 1112 HMS Victorious, the longest lived Fleet Carrier from WW2
HMS Victorious is a second-hand model of the British aircraft carrier in 1940. It is in very good condition, see photograph, The model was made in metal to 1/1250 scale and painted at the factory in Germany by Neptun, 1112.
Victorious served in all theatres during WW2 and was even "lent" to the Americans in the Pacific in 1943 and given a coat of "Chicago" blue paint as camouflage intended to replicate that used on US carriers at that time.
Sisterships Formidable & Illustrious have not been modelled by Neptun, so this is the nearest model to those other two famous WW2 carriers as they entered service.
At the end of the 1960s, Victorious caught fire whilst under refit and was scrapped. If she had completed the refit, she would have remained in service when Ark Royal IV was withdrawn!
