Replicating the track used on Britain's mainline routes with concrete sleepers and continuous welded flat bottom rail Peco Streamline track is supplied in 1 yard (914mm) lengths.
Concrete railway sleepers were trialled several times in the 'bog four' era and again during WW2, but it was only after the introduction of processes to created pre-stressed steel reinforcing that a concrete sleeper of sufficient resilience for mainline service could be manufactured. Since the 1960s most of Britain's mainline routes have been relaid with track on concrete sleepers, often allied with long stretches of continuous welded rail, making Pecos' SL-103 concrete sleeper Streamline track ideal for modelling mainline routes in the diesel era.
