Even 40 years after its maiden flight the F-14A Tomcat was one of the most powerful and efficient fighter-interceptors in the world. In particular its long-range capability and ability to attack targets, with its AIM-54 Phoenix missiles, which were way outside its range of sight, made it an ideal fleet defender. The F-14 Tomcat was developed as the successor to the Phantom II which had proved outdated in its fighter-interceptor role. Deliveries of the F-14A Tomcat to the US Navy operations units started in June 1972. The first unit was VF-124 stationed in NAS Miramar, which was also responsible for further pilot training. Engines: 2 x Pratt & Whitney TF 30-P-4 14A; capacity 2 x 9,852 kg thrust; max. speed 2,485 km/h. | |

Its 100 percent subsidiary "Condor Berlin GmbH" was founded at the start of 1998. Just 1 1/2 years later they were able to welcome their 1st millionth passenger on board. Technologically, the Airbus A320 with a seating capacity for 174 passengers, is the world's most modern short distance airliner, boasting a range of 4,630 km. In 1985, Ryanair, an Irish low price airline, started to operate with one 15-seater turboprop aircraft between the south east of Ireland and London. The company made great progress year on year until in 1995 it was the largest passenger airline on the Dublin - London route. As they continued to grow, Ryanair ordered from Boeing 45 aircraft of the new type B737-800. In the meantime the total number of B737-800s ordered has increased to 225 with the option of a further 193 which are due for delivery by March 2012. At present (March 2005), Ryanair are flying 80 Boeing 737-800s to 93 destination in 19 European countries. The Boeing 737-800, with seating for 189 passengers, is the most efficient commercial aircraft in the world on short to medium range flights.

The Anglo-French super-sonic airliner is one of the most spectacular aircraft developments of the last few years. The first flight of the British Aircraft Corporation and Aerospatiale joint production was on 2nd March 1969. Passenger flights started operating at the beginni'ng of 1976 (transatlantic and middle-east routes).
