It's a family name which heralds a family business that is a driving force in Lanarkshire and Glasgow.The McKindless Bus Group was started in Wishaw in 1987.The blue and red 'British Airways' styled clours of their Glasgow Shuttle Express is a familiar sight on the M74 and M8 motorways as they carry comuters, students and shoppers to the city.

The history of Western SMT dates back to the formation in England in 1913 of the Scottish Transport Co. Ltd, a subsidary of British Electric Traction Co. Ltd, set up to hold shares of several Scottish railway companies. In 1931 the shares were sold to Scottish Motor Traction which grew throughout the next 20 years through the acqusition of other companies. Bristol Lodeka 1625-1627 (RAG391-393) were the only FS types after many LDs, being new in 1961, thefore they carried B1 codes above the numbers. Following privatisation in recent years, Western SMT has changed ownership and livery several times and is now Stagecoach Western Buses.

Ford R Series / Panorama I ' Highland Omnibuses Ltd. ' part of the state owned Scottish Bus Group, acquired its first Fords secondhand in 1964. Over the following years over 180 Fords joined the highland fleet , most were buses , but there were further coaches, though T10 was the only one with a Panorama body.

First, Glasgow's largest bus operator provides an intensive network of bus services throughout Greater Glasgow. Operating over 100 routes throughout the Greater Glasgow area, including East Kilbride and Paisley, including a core 18 overground routes running as frequently as every 10 minutes or less. The aim to keep improving the services on offer to customers is still very much first priority.
