Samuel Jeffries operated a number of these colourful open wagons, bringing coal for both his brickworks and sale to the citizens of Stroud valleys. Although the wagons is lettered Dudbridge, which was on the MR/LMS Stroud branch it is marked for return to Jefferies sidings, Stonehouse GWR. A brickworks was served by the GWR at Stonehouse, and we would expect that Mr. Jefferies utilised his own wagons when despatching bricks by rail as well, a suitable alternative load for this wagon.
