Rapido LNER Y7 0-4-0T OO gauge

One of the LNERs smallest locomotives the North Eastern Railway Wordsell H class, LNER class Y7 were built for shunting on the sharply curved tracks in the confines of the North East dock coal staithes. The type has also proved capable of hauling passenger and goods services on light railways and two have survived into preservation. These Y7 locomotives are the ideal motive power for shunting Accurascale chaldron wagons.

A highly detailed models of the diminutive Wordsell H class, later LNER class Y7, 0-4-0 tank engines built for the North Eastern Railway in small batches between 1888 and 1923, totalling 25 locomotives. Designed for light shunting duties around the docks and coal staithes in the North East coast ports engines from this class were also used on the North Sunderland Railway, hauling both passenger and goods trains until closure in 1951, being one of the few locomotives types suitable for the light railway axleload limits. Two locomotives has been preserved.Rapido Trains have designed the model to reflect the differences between batches of these engines, basing the model on 1891 built number 1310 preserved at the Middleton Railway. A small coreless motor is fitted, with a flywheel provided for smooth running, allowing for the cab interior to be modelled in great detail and still permit a speaker to be accommodated for DCC sound options.Model finished as North Eastern Railway locomotive 1303 in NER lined black livery.DCC Sound Fitted
